Function & Material – With the Seat Stay Mounting Kit, you can securely attach our innovative Y and V racks to bicycles without M5 threaded inserts in the seat stays. The combination of paint protection film, UV-resistant heat shrink tubing, industrial cable ties with metal locking heads, and a robust carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic seat stay puck with an integrated brass thread guarantees a highly load-bearing and durable mounting point.

Installation – Wash your hands before application and clean the surface of the seat stay with alcohol or isopropanol. 

1. Applying the paint protection film: First, apply the paint protection film (Protective-Film) to the desired position on the seat stay. You can optimize the shape of the film by rounding off the corners. Then, separate the Protective-Film from the backing paper so that only the transparent adhesive part remains. Place the film in the center of the tube and carefully smooth it down without trapping air. The film can be repositioned initially. Once you are satisfied with the position, rub the film firmly with a soft cloth to remove air bubbles and ensure perfect adhesion.  
2. Positioning the pucks: Next, place the seat stay pucks (L/R) on the Protective-Film, at the same height on both sides. When positioned correctly, the brass thread points outwards.
3. Preparing the heat shrink tubing: Measure the required length for the heat shrink tubing directly on site (from the pass-through opening to the rear side) and subtract 1µcm. Check the length again and then cut the required pieces. Slide the cut-to-length heat shrink tubing onto the cable tie up to the locking head. Shrink the tubing onto the cable tie at a temperature of 90 °C to 125 °C.
4. Securing and tightening: Route the cable tie around the seat stay so that the locking head is on the side facing the tire. Then, insert the pointed end of the cable tie through the opening in the "Seat Stay Puck" from front to back. Initially, only tighten the cable tie loosely so that you can still adjust the position. Once the puck is in the right place, press it firmly against the frame tube with your thumb. At the same time, grip the loose end of the cable tie with flat-nose pliers and pull it powerfully and tightly until the puck can no longer be moved at all. Since the cable tie stretches slightly and adapts its shape to the puck, tighten it firmly again after a few hours. Only then cut off the excess part of the cable tie flush with the locking head. • Risk of personal injury and property damage due to installation errors or component failure: Always ensure proper fastening. A loose rack or falling luggage can lead to serious falls, accidents, and damage to the bicycle during riding. If the puck is used as a foot mount on full-suspension bikes, the rack may be loaded with a maximum of 8 kg.
  Regularly check the industrial cable ties for a secure fit and signs of material fatigue. For intensive year-round use, it is recommended to replace the cable ties once a year as a preventive measure. When screwing the screws into the brass threads, ensure appropriate torque – overtightening can damage the 3D-printed housing. Although cable ties and heat shrink tubing are UV-resistant and provide protection against abrasion, they are safety-critical components.
• Risk of property damage due to heat exposure: Due to the 3D printing material (PETG-CF), the pucks must be protected from extreme temperatures. Avoid intense, direct sunlight on extremely hot days or storage in heated vehicles, as the material may deform and compromise the stability of the mount.
