Christian Speck

He is the creative mind and designer of Speck Gear. With a wide range of interests and a long-term perspective, he consistently implements his ideas. The lack of alternatives prompted him to launch his own bikepacking line. His products draw on 35 years of experience with bike touring and bikepacking on various continents. From 1994 to 1996, he and his wife traveled through North, Central, and South America by bike, gaining a deeper understanding of travel before the digital revolution. An experience that continues to shape him to this day.
Christian Speck is a trained interior designer and product designer, but also dabbles in other disciplines. His focus is always on durable objects that gain character with patina. His studio is located in Soglio in the Bregaglia Valley – the archaic surroundings are the ideal setting for his minimalist designs.

motivation

As a designer, I'm a purist and a lover of smart and functional solutions. My desire to design bicycle accessories that will reliably accompany me on all my journeys for years to come while adding minimal weight to my luggage stems from my own passion for cycling tours off the beaten track.

Development

Right from the development phase, I work closely with my future producers and partners to find optimal solutions between design, material selection, manufacturing, and functionality. These processes complement each other, and we're happy to go the extra mile if it adds value to the user. The result is products that are reduced to the essentials and have nothing superfluous. Thanks to lean processes, it's possible to produce these high-quality parts in Switzerland at competitive prices. We're proud of this.
